Introduction
Before sharing a workbook, you'll want to make sure it doesn't include any spelling errors or information you want to keep private. Fortunately, Excel includes several tools to help finalize and protect your workbook, including DocumentInspector and the Protect Workbook feature.
Right-click an element to find the supported controls. Use the controls to edit the page as HTML markup, copy or paste inner or outer HTML markup, show Document Object Model (DOM) properties, take a screenshot of or delete the node, apply new attributes, see the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and more. The Document Inspector (in Word, Excel or PowerPoint) lets you prepare a final version of your document and make sure that it is completely stripped of any of this information that you don’t want recipients to ever see or know about. Microsoft Document Inspector is a feature within Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel that allows users to search the document's contents for text phrases and sensitive or personal information. People can use the Document Inspector to replace or remove unwanted information before the document is finalized or distributed. Document Inspector: The Document Inspector scans your Word document and removes hidden data and personal information, making it safer to share documents with others. This feature is missing from the Mac version. The Style Inspector Pane in Word: Instructions Instructions on How to Open the Style Inspector Pane in Word to View Text Formatting. To use the Style Inspector pane in Word to see the formatting applied to selected text, first select the text to inspect in the document. Then click the “Home” tab in the Ribbon.

Document Inspector
Whenever you create or edit a workbook, certain personal information may be added to the file automatically. You can use Document Inspector to remove this information before sharing a workbook with others.

To use Document Inspector:

- From the Info pane, click Check for Issues, then select InspectDocument from the drop-down menu.
- You may be prompted to save your file before running Document Inspector.

- When you're done, click Close.

By default, anyone with access to your workbook will be able to open, copy, and edit its content unless you protect it. There are many different ways to protect a workbook, depending on your needs.

To protect your workbook:
- Click the File tab to access Backstage view.
- From the Info pane, click the Protect Workbook command.
- In the drop-down menu, choose the option that best suits your needs. In our example, we'll select Markas Final. Marking your workbook as final is a good way to discourage others from editing the workbook, while the other options give you even more control if needed.
- A dialog box will appear, prompting you to save. Click OK.
- Another dialog box will appear. Click OK.
- The workbook will be marked as final.
Marking a workbook as final will not prevent others from editing it. If you want to prevent people from editing it, you can use the Restrict Access option instead.
